Not a lie told here. I went to UCSB 90-94. This was pretty much the exact truth. I can't speak for frats declining but it was true then that life at ucsb didn't revolve around frats. In terms of parties, Frat parties were not remotely even the best parties to go to. But academically it was not easy and engineering and physics were some of the best in the world. That's why Ratheon was there. But yeah spot on. Oh and when i was there Halloween was great. That said, Halloween sucks now partly cause of how much chaos we created in 1990, 91, 92. After that they brought the cops in mega force. But yeah, if you sit in your room it's your fault. There's plenty of different types of people. A great place to grow. "UCSB was the best time of my life so far. I miss it everyday." 1000% truth from nearly everyone that goes there.

The parties honestly aren't really fun unless you know people there, otherwise it'll be a bunch of strangers and you have to be basic and unstable to think they're "a lot of fun." Or if you lived a really sheltered childhood and you finally feel free once you're at UCSB/SBCC, then yeah you might enjoy it. But yeah the parties are really just a bunch of drunk basic b**ches where you have to lower your IQ about 50 points to properly enjoy it. Just bein real.

I transferred to UCSB for my last two years of college and I lived in the Santa Ynez apartments on El Colegio. Those two years were two of the most important years of my life.

I was like "Yeah, alright everything checks ou-"and then you talked about the romance aspect of UCSB. Like damn I didn't know it was that harsh. I'm considering a smaller college, just because they usually seem able to provide a more intimate and personal college experience. There's this small liberal arts college in Virginia, William and Mary, and I've heard that 25 percent of students there end up marrying another WM student. But overall UCSB sounds like a great school, love the location, chill but not romantically commiting people, question mark, and really great academics.

I am debating whether to go here or not, but I really love state street. Are there cafés nearby? I really want to paint and stuff around there. Anyways, I'm glad you touched upon these points, it made me want to go there more. I am an introvert, but because of that, I am leaning towards UCSB (instead of Irvine) because I am the type of introvert that needs to have an extrovert around to have fun socially. I mean, I'm good by myself but I just want a friend or two lol. As for romance, I really don't want to date while I'm in college so I'm happy to hear that nobody does that. I am very scared of romance, commitment, anything like that. I just want friends lol
